Unfolded Antechamber, Drawing, 2024
Dwellings, South London Gallery, Group Exhibition
Curated by Computer Room, hosted by Flocktogether
The piece is an open replication of a weaverbird’s nest, deconstructed to reveal its essence. The drawing delves into its spatial intricacies: the way it bends to the whims of the wind, tilts to greet the sun. It dissects each stratum—the outer shell, the inner lining, the threshold, and the insulation—right down to the antechamber designed to deter unwelcome visitors. By unfolding this bird’s abode, we make visible the details that invite us to reflect on the construction of our own ‘nests,’ encouraging a deeper consideration of our spaces.
